WHEN DESIGNING A T-SHIRT LOGO…

Geiger-services-screen-printingDesign a logo for a t-shirt so you don’t have to worry about registration issues and you’ll end up with a sharp looking t-shirt. How do you do that? When you design a logo for screen printing you have to keep in mind that a screen must be created for each color in the design. The screens must then be lined up on a press in the correct placement or registration for the design to look like the one on the computer screen. Not such an easy task, especially if you figure in garment shrinkage. If the logo has multiple colors the ink needs to be cured between colors. The shirt will be exposed to heat and will shrink slightly while on the table. When creating a design that has multiple colors try to design the colors so part of the shirt color shows in between each color. This way, if the colors are not put on the shirt in the exact spot nobody knows. You don’t see any of the give-aways of the logo not lining up (like yellow next to black) or if the edge is not sharp because one of the colors has been printed on top of the other color close to the edge. It just makes for a sharper looking logo.
